◈ STEEL MAKING PROCESS
ELEMINATING IMPURITIES FROM MOLTEN IRON AND MAKING STEEL
A Torpedo Ladle Car (TLC), also known as a torpedo car, is a car that transports molten iron produced in a steel finance in steel-making process. This car carries about 1500 degrees of hot water and stores it for up to 24 hours. The molten iron that falls from a blast furnace is transported to the process of steel-making along with the railway of the car (the process of reducing the amount of carbon contained in the molten iron and removing the impurities). The above photograph is a torpedo car ordered from NIPPON STEEL & SUMKIN ENGINEERING (NSENGI), and its weight is over 372 ton.
